In Shanghai, Su Dong Ping: Landscapes of the Heart opens on 8 March, and in Singapore, Li Tianbing: Journey of the Lone Monkey opens on 28 March. Full details can be found in the newsletter attached. It is notable that this is Su Dong Ping's first commercial solo exhibition, following his acclaimed solo show at the Inside-Out Museum, Beijing in 2013. Su Dong Ping's abstract work operates in the space between sculpture and painting. We brought Chinese Abstract to the international art world's attention with our first Chinese Abstract show in 2010 in Shanghai, Mindspace-Maximalism in Contrasts, followed in 2012 by Chinese Contemporary Abstract, 1980s Until Present: MINDMAP, the inaugural show in our first Hong Kong gallery. We continue our sustained efforts to promote Contemporary Chinese Abstract artists, including placing them in major public and private collections, and have since added Su Dong Ping, Jiang Dahai, and Zhou Yanming to our growing list of represented artists. Our mission, besides focusing on Chinese Abstract art, is to also collaborate with international artists, including Jim Lambie, Jenny Holzer and Yinka Shonibare MBE (RA), and most recently Carlos Rolón/Dzine, Joana Vasconcelos and Leonardo Drew, to present a diverse roster of artists and ambitious programming in our galleries. Further information to follow in the coming months. The opening of the new gallery at SOHO 189 will create a platform to show art and design from around the world with no limitations of age or experience. This will help to fulfill the vision of Pearl Lam Galleries. We have long wanted to be able to offer solo shows to emerging artists, and at the same time it is also vital for us to continue with our design programme. We are committed to developing the culture of design and it is important to have a platform to showcase this. At SOHO 189, we plan to hold 10 exhibitions a year, including 2 design exhibitions where we will collaborate with international designers, such as Jurgen Bey, Martin Szekely, André Dubreuil, and Studio Swine, as well as show new developments in sustainable design created by Enrico Cinzano.
