Seoul International Women¡¯s Association (SIWA) to held elections for its 2015-16 Executive Board
Seoul, Mar. 23, 2015 – On March 18, 2015, at its Annual General Meeting that took place at the Conrad hotel, Seoul International Women¡¯s Association (or ¡°SIWA¡±) held the election of its 2015-16 Executive Board. Positions are held for 1 year, with the possibility of reelection for two additional terms. Transitions included the departure of current President Sophia Barry, as she successfully exited her post to return to England.
The following candidates were vetted by the nominating committee and found to be eligible and willing to undertake the duties of their nominated positions.
President: Anne Choe

Board Administrator: Ariane Amiot *
Treasurer: Mikyung Park
*Currently serves in this role 2014-2015
As no candidate was contested, all were elected to the 2015-16 Executive Board by a unanimous motion of all SIWA members present at the meeting.

Sophie is British, with accountancy training and experience in logistics and administration. She lived and worked in Lagos, Nigeria from 2011–2013. She arrived in Korea in 2013, initially in Ulsan, where she was working as an administrator/accountant. A year later, Sophie and her husband moved to Seoul where she instantly found a home in the professional way of working and the warmth of SIWA. In England, Sophie was a keen horse rider and spent much of her free time competing in local events.

Proposed Board
Anne is an American from the Washington, DC area. Since joining SIWA in January 2014, she is an active participant in the Welfare Committee and the vendor manager for Coffee Mornings, currently the 2015 Gala Chair. As a former education management consultant, she is passionate about serving underrepresented students. Anne is currently involved with a mentoring program at a middle school working with adolescents cope with teenage issues as well as issues particular to the new and growing multi-cultural families in Korea.
Vice President: Bockhee Lee
Bockhee is a Korean who used to be a teacher at a girls¡¯ high school. She has lived in America for 10 years. She loves music and espresso coffee and enjoys singing in VARIOSO, an international women¡¯s ensemble. Her husband is a professor at Sejong University and her two sons are students at Yonsei University and Kyunghee University. She served as a 2012 SIWA Bazaar Chair. She has been also serving as a Tours & Events coordinator for the past four years. She is currently Vice President (Fundraising).

Mhyla graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering at University of California San Diego (UCSD) in 2000. As an engineer, she traveled abroad to visit customers at semiconductor companies all over South East Asia, including South Korea. While working full time, she earned a MBA in International Business at Pepperdine University by 2005. This opened the doors to new opportunities, where she could combine her process improvement skills and business background in different industries. Her most recent role was the Director of Clinical Operations Improvement at a nonprofit hospital system in Las Vegas for the past 2 years. Her husband's promotion relocated them to Seoul in June 2013; then she joined SIWA the very next month in July. Over the next 2 years, Mhyla is keeping busy with her passions in life (photography, Zumba & cooking) as well as with SIWA in her new role.
Vice President: Neelum Sharma
Neelum is a communication
professional who moved from Chicago in early 2014 with her family. She has 10 years of work experience spanning global corporations, such as Citigroup and Condé Nast (Vogue), internet startups and non-profits.
Neelum received an MSc in Communication from Northwestern University and a BA from the University of British Columbia. Neelum recently served as Vendor Coordinator for the 2014 Bazaar and more recently took on the new role as SIWA¡¯s PR Chair and VP Community Relations where she can leverage her professional background. Her spare time is spent exploring Seoul and preparing handicrafts.
Board Administrator: Ariane Amiot
Ariane is French with 2 children working in Paris and London. She relocated to Seoul in November 2014 from Germany with her husband, who is working for a French automotive supplier. With a Masters Degree in business law and tax, she has 29 years as a financial auditor, working for the past 16 years for PWC. In addition to working, Ariane also has voluntary experience as financial auditor, treasurer, book club and bazaars for Women¡¯s Clubs while residing in Germany. Besides French, Ariane is fluent in both German and English. In her spare time Ariane enjoys mountain activities, sailing and art.
Mikyung was born in the Eastern part of South Korea and worked for 8 years in a bank before moving to Taiwan. From there she moved to the US to learn foreign languages. She has attained multiple undergrad degrees in Chinese, Pastoral Theology, Business Administration and finally a Masters degree in TESOL. Since 1995 Mikyung has been teaching English and has enjoyed the opportunity to influence and encourage young children to explore the challenge of learning a new language, while enjoying the experience to work with people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. Mikyung enjoys travelling and reading to broaden her knowledge of the world.
